Fast-saved documents are indeed more likely to crash the converter. Best
thing is to train the users to turn off fast save and leave it off (this
isn't hte only problem it causes); failing that, always to do a Save As
before taking the document to another machine.

I can't speak for Macs, but it is *never* a good idea to use Word for
Windows with documents on floppies. Always save to the HD and drag the
document to the floppy, and drag from the floppy to a HD folder again
before opening the document on the other machine.

Agreed. If you have any doubts about a floppy, chuck it out - or if that
seems extravagant, reformat it a couple of times, and only keep it if it
never shows a bad sector.

Dear Dan,

You named a program I haven't heard of before. Could you tell me
where to find it, who makes it, etc.? It would certainly help us, (as
long as it isn't too expensive).

      Thanks,

           Rosemary

What version of the MacOS are you running? How large a file is it?
You could try updating Appleshare to see if that improves things.
