archive search, you will find a great article on how to do this.

Can you make a disk image, with Disk Copy, that you can use to restore a
machine to it's original state? I have tried numerous times and have not
been able to get it right. Some of the software still has to be reloaded
after I copy the contents of the disk image back to the hard drive. Am I
doing something wrong?
